RDF stands for Refuse-Derived-Fuel, a fuel produced by sorting and shredding combustible materials contained in municipal solid waste (MSW) and industrial waste.
The diversification of waste stream and the control of the supply chain are the most important tools to guarantee the constancy in supply in term of quantity and quality.
BioEnergy resorts to different stream MSW and industrial waste, sorted in the transfer station across the country.
In the transfer station the raw MSW and industrial waste are segregated in order to purify combustible fraction from the organic fraction and inert; consequently the material is transported to the shredding station.
The role of transfer stations is vital to assure high quality of the RDF and the most competitive price; as higher is the purity of the combustible fraction lower are the cost of transportation.
The transfer stations are owned and managed by third suppliers in the framework of supplier adoption. BioEnergy transfers technology know-how, quality standards guideline; and in some case we perform quality assurance.

Edwa Waste Management plant is located at the border of Governorate of Beni Suef and El Minya Governorate
The plant has been designed, manufactured and erected by Amut – Italian Company specialized in engineering and manufacturing of waste management facilities.
The project has been financed by the Italian Cooperation in the framework of the Swap-program with the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In November 2018, BioEnergy signed a ten years agreement with the governorate of El Minya for the rental of the line.
According to this agreement, the governorate of El Minya is responsible to deliver to Edwa Waste Plant, 300 ton/day of municipal solid waste.
BioEnergy decided to upgrade the existing line procuring a secondary shredder to produce high quality RDF, processing waste collected in El Minya governorate and sorted by other transfer station across Egypt.
